Guwahati Police seized huge cache of drugs at Betkuchi

GUWAHATI: City Police seized a huge cache of narcotics in front of the ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminus) complex at Betkuchi here on Wednesday.

Acting on a tipoff, a team of Gorchuk Police carried out the search operation. The police recovered the drugs from the bag of a person identified as Selimuddin. He hails from Baksa. The police caught him when he had picked up the bag to shift it to another vehicle.

Police sources informed that the bag contained 50,000 tablets of 'World is Yours' worth approximately Rs 1.50 crore in the open market.

The police registered a case (775/21 u/s 22(c) of NDPS Act). The Court sent the accused to judicial custody.

According to a police source, the consignment from Manipur was for Guwahati. However, the person who had brought the drugs from Manipur managed to flee.
