Guwahati: Three of a Family Found Dead in Bamunimaidam Area

GUWAHATI: Chandmari Police recovered three bodies of a family in their railway quarters in the Bamunimaidam area in Guwahati today. The three bodies are of Lohit Thakuria, his wife Juli Deka and his stepdaughter Ritvika Deka. While the bodies of the mother and daughter lying on the floor bore injury marks, that of Lohit was found in a hanging state.

According to the police, Lohit Thakuria was the second husband of Juli Deka. She was an NF Railway employee. Ritvika, reading in Class IX, was the daughter of Juli Deka and her deceased husband.

In July 2024, Juli Deka registered a case against Lohit Thakuria in Chandmari PS under the POCSO Act, which led to the arrest of Thakuria.

According to the police, Lohit Thakuria, who was working in a garage, came to the quarters at around 9.30 pm last night. He sent an SMS to one of his cousins that he had killed the mother-daughter duo, and he was going to commit suicide.
