HSLC, Assam High Madrassa success rates fall

Just 57.49 per cent of students passed the HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate)

GUWAHATI: Just 57.49 per cent of students passed the HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate), and 54.73 per cent passed the Assam High Madrassa (AHM) examinations this year. The success rates of HSLC were 93.1 per cent in 2021 (no examination took place) and 64.8 per cent in 2020.

According to results declared by SEBA (Board Secondary Education), Assam today, 2,29,131 students (1,19,888 boys and 1,18,243 girls) of the 4,05,582 candidates who took the examinations passed. Only 58.80 per cent of boys passed the examination against only 54.49 per cent girls. Boys led the toppers' list.

Despite recurring floods every year, the Dhemaji district registered the highest pass percentage of 85.46, and the Chirang district has the lowest pass percentage of 34.27. Following Dhemaji are Dima Hasao (81.31%), Sivasagar (81.17%), Nalbari (79.17%), Majuli (77.33%), Lakhimpur (75.62%) etc.

As many as 65,176 students – 31,559 boys and 33,617 girls – got first division; 99,854 students – 47,856 boys and 51,998 girls — got second division and 64,101 got third division.

Forty-four students made it to the merit list of ten top positions. Raktotpal Saikia of the Lakhimpur district (St Mary's High School) got the first position, securing 597 out of 600 marks. Bhuyashi Medhi of the Nalabari district (Little Flower School) stood second by securing 596 out of 600; and Mridupawan Kalita of Don Bosco School of Kheroni (West Karbi Anglong), Labeeb Mazib of Dibrugarh (Don Bosco High School) and Partha Pratim Das of Lakhimpur (Lohit Dikrong HS School, Bihpuria) got the third position, securing 595 out 600. The fourth position goes to Swapnaraj Kalita of Barpeta (Anundoram Borooah Academy High School), Sneha Saikia of Golaghat (Dayanand Vidya Niketan), Samadrita Sarmah of Jorhat (Don Bosco High School, Baghchung) and Annesha Bora of Doomdooma (Don Bosco High School). Jubaer Hussain of Barpeta (Palhazi HS School), Pranjit Bordoloi of Darang (Nagoan Anchalik High School), Shanaj Anjum Yasmin of Jorhat (Bengarden High School) and Equit Abbot Dutta of Lakhimpur (St Mary's High School) got the fifth position, securing 593; Bitupan Medhi of Goalpara (St Sebastian's School, Matia) and Murchana Barman of Nalbari (Little Flower School) got the sixth position, securing 592; Jyotipal Talukdar of Barpeta (Anundoram Barooah Academy High School), Sarmistha Bhagawati of Lakhimpur (Jawaharjyoti High School, Pithaguri), Priyanuj Bordoloi of Sivasagar (New Look Academy), Dipsikha Boruah of Sivasagar (Demow Girls High School), Ashlesha Sarma of Guwahati (St Mary's High School) and Nisha Sarma of Kamrup Metro (TC Government Girls HS and MP School) got seventh position, securing 591; Harshit Barman of Barpeta (Pathsala Sikshapith Adarsha High School), Olivia Bora of Jorhat (Don Bosco High School, Baghchung), Rajnandini Baidya of Nagaon (Christjyoti School), Tejal Agarwal of Nagoan (Christjyoti School), Udeshna Bordoloi of Nagaon (Christjyoti School) and Neha Upadhayay of Sonitpur (Barchala HS School) got the eighth position, securing 590; Divine AP Sarma of Barpeta (Pathsala Sikshapith Adharsha High School), Akash Deep Bhuyan of Darrang (Happy Child English, Sipajhar), Dhritishman Dutta of Dibrugarh (Salt Brook School), Tabibur Haque of Kamrup (AL Amen Islamic Model School), Partha Pratim Bora of Lakhimpur (Gyanjyoti Academy, Narayanpur), Bidisha Nath of Morigaon (Sankardev Vidya Niketan), Shristi Nanda Kashyap of Nagaon (Christjyoti School, Dhing), Arin Bhuyan of Sivasagar (Holy Name School), Jyotirmoy Dutta of Sivasagar (Srimanta Sankardev Vidyalaya, Nitaipukhuri) and Anasuya Thakuria of Kamrup Metro (GU Model High School, English Section) secured the ninth position with 589 marks, and Almina Khatun of Barpeta (Navamilan HS School), Anubhab Kapil of Bongaigaon (Bongaigaon HS School), Biswadip Nath of Cachar (Holycross HS School), Ananya Bharadwaj of Dibrugarh (Little Flower School), Anikankana Gogoi of Dibrugarh (Tengakhat Jatiya Vidyalaya), Ayon Mitra of Lakhimpur (St Mary's High School, North Lakhimpur), Koustab Jyoti Nath of Morigaon (Sankardev Vidya Niketan), Uditi Das of Nagaon (Christ Jyoti School, Dhing), Dibyajyoti Lahkar of Nalbari (Sankardev Vidya Niketan), Dhritishmita Deka of Nalbari (Sankardev Vidya Niketan), Himanshu Das of Sivasagar (Sri Sundarmal Model School), Roktutpal Borah of Sivasagar (Sri Sundarmal Model School), Kallol Biswas of Sonitpur (Sacred Heart School, Tezpur), Saurav Barman of Kamrup Metro (Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya, Noonmati), Mayank Agarwal of Kamrup Metro (Nichols High School, Satribari), Jurishma Chakravarty of Kamrup Metro (St Stephen's School), Anurag Borah of Majuli (Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Bongaon) and Md Hammadur Rahman of Nagaon (St Boniface High School) got the tenth position, securing 588 marks.

As many as 5,721 students – 2,232 boys and 3,489 girls – passed the AHM examinations among the 10,454 students who took the AHM examinations. Mufassir Al-Hasan of Sonitpur (Al Kauser Model Academy) stood first securing 556 marks out of 600, Sadika Ahmed of Barpeta (Dhakua High Madrassa) and Mostaque Ahmed of Bongaigaon (Piradhara High Madrassa) stood second securing 550 and Shahanaz Parbin of Lakhimpur (Daulatpur Madrassa HS School) and Irshadullah of Nagaon (Borghuli High Madrassa) stood third.
