Human Rights violation: How to lodge complaints

If you are a victim of human rights violation, you can approach the Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) chairperson or any AHRC members or official with a complaint. The postal address of the AHRC is – Assam Human Rights Commission, GMCH Road, Guwahati -781005. The complainants may engage a lawyer, if they so desire.

The complaint or petition should have the proper postal address of the complainant for communication.

The AHRC does not take up matters that took place over a year ago, matters under sub judice or inquiry by any other commission, matters that are vague, anonymous or pseudonymous, frivolous matters like landlord-tenant disputes, conjugal disputes, property disputes, inheritance, and human rights violation by members of 'Central Armed Forces, etc.
