GUWAHATI: In what can best be called as straight talk, JSF (Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation) has requested AIUDF president and MP Badruddin Ajmal to spell out as to why he refrains from the spreading message of two-child norm in sar and other minority-dominated areas in the State.

The JSF, an RSS-backed organization, has been engaged in the Northeast for the past few years for population control. The Foundation has also urged the Assam government to throw the right focus on the virtues of smaller families during the campaign for the Assembly election in the State.

Talking to The Sentinel, JSF's NE Chapter chairman Sailendra Pandey said, "MP Badruddin Ajmal feels himself as the messiah of the minority community in Assam. In all honest to goodness, the MP should spell out as to why he refrains from spreading the message of two-child norm among the minority people in sar and other areas. Since the State government has enacted an Act on two-child norm, as an MP from the State it's his bounden duty to make the virtues of population control known among the minorities.

"Going against the very essence of the State Act – Population & Women Empowerment Act, 2017 – the MP often tells the people of religious the minority that the government can't compel them to adopt population control measures.

"Let Ajmal come clear as to what measures he has taken to offset the onslaught of Assamese culture in the sar and other minority-dominated areas by what's called Miya culture."

The objective of the State Act is to ensure smaller families. The violation of provisions of the Act like the two-child norm denies government jobs and the right to contest elections in Panchayati Raj institutions and local bodies.

The JSF has also urged the State government to adhere to the other provisions of the Act.
