Manipulating recruitment process: 3 cops arrested

SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

SILCHAR: "Corruption has to be eliminated from public life." It has been the core message from Dispur with the induction of the BJP Government in 2016. The firmness of the government was seen today when three policemen were taken into custody for adopting questionable methods to manipulate the recruitment process to show favour to their kith and kin.

According to information from Karimganj, the trio identified as inspector Tapas Sinha, sub-inspector Balai Chand and nursing staff Debasis Sinha subverting the fair process of recruitment in physical tests of candidates showed favour to their unsuccessful sons and daughters.

The three policemen in question were on duty to oversee the ongoing recruitment process in Karimganj in respect of physical fitness and tests as per laid down norms. Their candidates, one boy and eleven girls failed to get the qualifying marks. The entire examination process is being monitored and recorded by CCTV cameras. After examining the footage, Karimganj police arrested them, and their interrogation is going on.

People, in general, have appreciated the bold action taken by the Karimganj police. Since the joining of Padmanath Barua as SP, the police has gone into a proactive role to fight against social evils and corruption in public life. Today's action against their colleagues in the police force is quite commendable. It will heighten the image of the police.
