
BATTLE AGAINST COVID

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday lauded the role of media in the fight against COVID-19 for taking the message of preventive measures against spreading the dangerous virus to every nook and corner of the State.
Interacting with the media persons in Hojai district on Monday, Sonowal asserted that the spread of novel coronavirus infection could be limited to a large extent due to the successful implementation of lockdown in the State. He appreciated the role of the people in maintaining social distance, and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to maintain social distance acts as a major weapon in saving the lives of millions of Indians.
Sonowal said that all health functionaries including doctors, nurses, ASHA workers, MPWs, Laboratory Technicians, Ward Boys, cleaning staff and ambulance drivers have been working round-the-clock to save people’s lives. He further said that Police personnel, officials of Food & Civil Supplies, Power, PHE, and Transport departments have also joined the fight against COVID-19 with sincerity and dedication.
Earlier in the day, Sonowal had visited Hojai, Nagaon and Morigaon districts and reviewed preparedness of the district administrations to fight against novel coronavirus pandemic. He visited the civil hospitals and held meetings with the senior officials of the district administration, health and other departments.
