DIBRUGARH: Keeping in view the present situation arising out of the nationwide lockdown due to the outbreak of coronavirus, committees of both the Muslim burial grounds (kabarstan) in Dibrugarh have appealed to all members of the Muslim community to observe all directives of lockdown strictly during the Shab-e-Barat festival on April 9.

The president of Amolapatty Kabarstan Committee, Tarique Rahman along with its secretary Javed Rahman have appealed to the people in a statement to remain indoors, offer prayers and perform other religious activities like ‘Namaz’ and ‘Zearat’ in their respective homes, instead of visiting the burial ground.

A similar appeal has also been made by the president and the secretary of the Naliapool, Grahambazar Kabarstan Committee, Amanulla Ansari and Naser Sultan respectively to observe social distancing norms and stay at home during the celebration of Shab-e-Bharat festival. Both have also appealed to the faithfuls not to visit the kabarstan for ‘Zearat’ and have urged them to do the same at their respective homes.

The Imam Parishad of the district has also made a fervent appeal to the people to observe Shab-e-Barat – slated for April 9 – in their respective homes, rather than going to the mosques for prayers.
