Guwahati: It is time for people in Upper Assam and the north bank of the Brahmaputra to get ready to pay toll for the use of the national highways at two points. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has called for bids for engagement of user fee collection agencies at Rangamati Fee Plaza on NH 37 (Old) near Dergaon and Ratowa Fee Plaza on NH 15 near Jinjia police station in the Biswanath district, on the north bank of the Brahmaputra river.
The Rangamati Fee Plaza is being set up on the stretch of NH 37 (Old) from Numaligarh to Jorhat near Dergaon town of the Golaghat district. NHAI has now invited bids for engagement of a fee collection agency for a period of three months or till appointment of a new agency by NHAI, whichever is earlier. The fee rate fixed for 2025-26 at Rangamati Fee Plaza for cars, jeeps, vans or light motor vehicles is Rs 80 for a one-way trip and Rs 120 for vehicles returning within a day; for light commercial vehicles, light goods vehicles or minibuses, the rate is Rs 130 for a one-way trip and Rs 190 for vehicles returning within a day; for buses and trucks (up to two axles), it is Rs 270 for a one-way trip and Rs 400 for vehicles returning within a day. There is also provision for monthly passes.
Ratowa Fee Plaza is located near Jinjia police station in the Biswanath district, on the stretch from Dolabari to Jamuguri and from Jamuguri to Gohpur on NH 15. The fee rate structure for the year 2025-26 for cars, jeeps, vans or light motor vehicles is Rs 200 for a one-way trip and Rs 305 for vehicles returning within a day; for light commercial vehicles, light goods vehicles or minibuses, the rate is Rs 325 for a one-way trip and Rs 490 for vehicles returning within a day; for buses and trucks (up to two axles), it is Rs 685 for a one-way trip and Rs 1,025 for vehicles returning within a day. There is also provision for monthly passes.
Currently, there are 9 toll plazas in operation on national highways in Assam.
