GUWAHATI: The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) at the Assam Secretariat in Dispur has activated three helpline numbers to attend to queries from the public on any issue related to the ongoing 'Special Summary Revision' of 'Photo Electoral Roll-2021'.

The public can dial the Contact Centre at 1800-3451947, 0361-2724199, and 1950 for various issues in connection with the in the Photo Electoral Roll including changes in particulars, and also ways to register names among others.

Talking to The Sentinel, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Assam, Nitin Khade said, "The draft 'Photo Electoral Roll-2021' was published on November 18. The public can seek help at the State Contact Centre from 10 am to 5 pm. All eligible persons whose names are yet to be included in the draft 'Photo Electoral Roll-2021', should apply on or before December 15. The final 'Photo Electoral Roll-2021' will be published in January 2021."

The State Assembly elections, slated in April 2021, will be held based on this final electoral roll.

As per the recently published draft photo-electoral roll, the total electors in Assam are 2,24,39,522. Of them, 1,14,25,748 are males and 1, 10, 13, 774 are females.

Disposal of claims and objections will be completed by January 5, 2021.

All eligible Indian citizens who will be attaining the age of 18 years on January 1, 2021 as the qualifying date, can apply for registration of their names as voters within the period from November 18, 2020 to December 15, 2020.

Application for registration, deletion of names from the electoral roll, correction of entries in the electoral roll and transposition of name from one polling station to another polling station in the same constituency, can be submitted online through www.ceoassam.in and www.nvsp.in. Forms will also be available with the BLO (Booth-Level Officers) and ERO (Electoral Registration Officers).

One can also submit the filled-in prescribed forms to the BLO of the concerning polling station or the ERO of the concerning Assembly Constituency.
