Police gathering clues from video footage's of arson and violence during protests

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The Assam Police is analyzing in details all the video footages of arson and violence that took had taken place at Guwahati and other parts of the State on December 11 and 12. This is being done to weed out those elements from among the anti-CAA protestors who were involved in such acts. The Police is convinced that some people not at all involved with the genuine protestors carried out the arson and violence acts in Assam during those two days.

Already, the State Police has gathered the footages from various sources and also from the CCTV cameras installed at different points in the city including those at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra where too vandalism had taken place.

Following an appeal to the public by the Assam police to furnish video footages of such acts, many such evidences were also received.

Sources informed that the police has zeroed in on the main suspects through such culled video footages. The SIT (Special Investigation Team) already set up by the Assam Police is also carrying forward its investigation into the various acts of arson and violence by closely examining these video footages.
