GUWAHATI: Eight police personnel of the state are to get police medals for gallantry, one for the president's police medal for distinguished service and 14 are to get police medals for meritorious services, 2022.

The Central Government announced the names on the eve of Independence Day.

The eight personnel to get police medals for gallantry are John Das (SDPO), Jitumoni Deka (SI), Bitupan Chutia (SI), Achyut Nath (SI), Sambhu Ronghang (LNK), Hondor Sing Tokbi (CT), Greatson Marak (CT) and Sambor Rongpi.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, Himangshu Das is to get President's Police Medal for distinguished service.

The 14 personnel to get police medals for meritorious services are – Diganta Kumar Choudhury (DCP-Central) Guwahati; Biraj Das, APRO SP-Commandant, Ulubari; Amrit Chandra Kalita, Dy SP, CM SVC, Guwahati; Ashim Borah, Inspector (UB) Tinsukia; Jayanta Kumar Barman, Inspector (UB), CID; Debendra Nath Das, ASI (UB), CID; Purna Chandra Das, LNK, 1st APTF Battalion; Kamal Chetry, LNK, Karbi Anglong; Khargeswar Nath, LNK 9th APBn; Dipak Bhuyan, LNK, 9th APBn; Dandadhar Brahma, Constable (UB), SP office, Baksa; Ranjit Sarmah, Constable (UB), Police Reserve, Nalbari; Junmoni Kurmi, Constable (UB), Police Reserve, Tinsukia and Dipali Gogoi, women constable (AB), CID.

Three personnel to get President's Fire Service Medal for Distinguished services are Sub Officer of Hajo Dilip Kumar Talukdar, Sub Officer HQs Anup Kumar Gayan and leading fireman Dinesh Kalita.

The five personnel to get medals for meritorious services are Haflong Sub Officer Dilip Kumar Borah, Mirza Sub Officer Dimbadhar Das, leading fireman of HQ Nara Kanta Kalita, leading fireman Safatullah Ali of Goalpara and driver Jama Ali of Nambari.

The two personnel to get Home Guards and Civil Defence medals for meritorious service are Havildar Premo Nath Sonowal and Constable Harekrishna Medhi.
