Guwahati: The Asom Sahitya Sabha has announced an ambitious plan to publish the complete works of late cultural icon Zubeen Garg by 2026. The first set of editions will be brought out in Assamese, English, and Hindi, with future plans to expand into Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Speaking on the initiative, Sabha president Dr. Basant Kumar Goswami said, “We will publish all of Zubeen Garg’s works songs, writings, and compositions by 2026. With people’s support, we hope to later bring out editions in other Indian languages as well. This task will be carried forward under the leadership of Tridip Baruah.”

Dr. Goswami noted that Garg’s unparalleled popularity and humanitarian outlook deserved the highest recognition. He added that the Sabha has already written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging that India’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, be conferred on the artiste.

Preparations for the project are already underway, Goswami said, stressing that documenting and publishing Zubeen’s body of work would preserve his legacy for generations to come. “Zubeen was more than an artiste he was a guiding light. His vision and contribution must be honoured nationally and globally,” he said.

The Sabha also appealed to the Assam Government to extend its support to the initiative and to ensure accountability against those who allegedly exploited or wronged the artiste.
