GUWAHATI: The TAC (Tiwa Autonomous Council) election is going on from today (17 Dec, Thursday) amidst a boycott call by a few organizations. As many as 3,08,409 voters are going to the seal — through secret ballots — the fate of 124 candidates across 410 polling stations.

The TAC polls has 36 constituencies across four districts – Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai and Kamrup (M). The voting will start at 7.30 am and conclude at 4.30 pm. Counting is slated from 8 am on December 19. The State Election Commission (SEC) has asked the respective Deputy Commissioners to ensure the maintenance of COVID-19 protocols during polling. Repolling, if any, will be held on December 18.

Following an instruction from the SEC, the police have made all security arrangements in the 36 TAC constituencies.

A number of organizations including that of the 'AmriKarbis' are opposing holding of the TAC election process in their respective areas.
