GUWAHATI: UPPL (United People's Party Liberal) won the Koklabari bye-poll under the Baksa district in the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council).

According to the Assam State Election Commission (SEC), UPPL candidate Mantu Boro defeated his nearest rival BPF (Bodoland People's Front) candidate Sankar Basumatary by a margin of 16,346 votes. Mantu Boro polled 32,571 votes against 16,225 votes polled by Sankar Basumatary.

The bye-poll took place on June 8. BTC CEM Promod Boro won two constituencies in the last BTC election and resigned from the Koklabari constituency. And that necessitated the bye-poll.
