Veterinary officer arrested while accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 in Dispur

The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption and Kokrajhar District Police laid a trap and caught red-handed Veterinary Deputy Director Dr Arup Jyoti Bhuyan in the Dispur area while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant.

GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption and Kokrajhar District Police laid a trap and caught red-handed Veterinary Deputy Director Dr Arup Jyoti Bhuyan in the Dispur area while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant.

The sleuths recovered the bribe amount from Dr Bhuyan in the presence of independent witnesses.

Kokrajhar SP had received the complaint that the complainant owning a dairy farm wanted to bring three milch cows to his farm from Alipurduar. He approached Dr Bhuyan for the necessary transit permit for the purpose.
