In the 2016 Assembly Election, AGP candidate Gunindra Nath Das won the MLA seat, with 63563 votes and became MLA, whereas a candidate from INC A Rahim Ahmed was the runner-up with 57753 votes. Therefore he lost the MLA seat by 5810 votes.

In the Assembly Election of 2006, a candidate Gunindra Nath Das of AGP had won MLA seat against Ismail Hussain with 48052 votes.

In the 2011 Assembly Elections of Assam, a candidate Abdur Rahim Khan of AIUDF had won the MLA seat with 20511 votes.
In prior to 2016 Assembly Election, a candidate of 2006 MLA Election name, Gunindra Nath Das of AGP had again won the MLA seat against Abdur Rahim Khan with 63563 votes.
