North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy (NEIAH) Day Observed

SHILLONG: The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy (NEIAH), Shillong, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, on Sunday observed the fourth Institute Establishment Day” at its Mawdiangdiang premises here. Dr. Pradyumna Goswami, Assistant Professor, Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital (GACH), Guwahati, besides being the convenor and assistant secretary of Assam Science Society, as an invited guest in his address to the gathering emphasized the need of strengthening collaborative natural products research in the AYUSH systems owing to the vast biodiversity of medicinal plants in north-eastern India.

The 'Institute Establishment Day' was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Bhabesh Das, Principal of GACH, Guwahati, as a chief guest, Prof. (Dr.) Abhijit Chattopadhyay, Head of Department, Department of Materia Medica, National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata.

Prof. (Dr) Chattopadhyay stressed the importance of loving one’s own systems for excelling as a successful doctor and also highlighted the scope of AYUSH systems in autoimmune disorders.

Prof. (Dr) Bhabesh Das referred to the rapid progress and development of the Institute at the national level within a short span of time. He also discussed the scope and limitations of various medical systems and stressed on an integrative approach of treatments.

The occasion was inaugurated by the lighting of lamp and 'Mangalacharan' followed by the felicitation of the guests. A welcome address was delivered by Prof. (Dr) PK Goswami, Director, NEIAH. He also summarized the milestones of NEIAH.

NEIAH also organized the 'Fourth Late Prof (Dr) SP Bhattacharjee Memorial Oration' who was the Founder Director of NEIAH, on December 21, 2019.
