Assam Police bust illegal slaughterhouse in Nagaon, 36 cattle and 2 buffaloes seized

Nagaon: Assam Police has busted an alleged illegal slaughterhouse in Nagaon district, seizing 285 kg of suspected beef, 36 cattle and two buffaloes, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday.

Sharing details of the operation on social media, Sarma said the state has “zero tolerance” for illegal cattle smuggling and unlawful slaughter and warned that those involved would face legal action.

According to the Chief Minister, the early morning operation targeted an illegal slaughterhouse allegedly operated by Noor Ali and Noor Zaman.

One person, identified as Asab Ali, has been arrested in connection with the case, while police are searching for the other two accused, Sarma said.

The seized cattle and buffaloes have been taken into custody as the investigation continues.

Sarma reiterated that the Assam government would take strict action against activities involving illegal cattle transportation and slaughter.
