Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a rally in Assam’s Biswanath and Gogamukh on Wednesday as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensifies its campaign in the state.

Modi arrived in Guwahati on Tuesday night and is scheduled to travel to Biswanath district, where he will address a public rally at Kulaguri field in Bihali.

As per reports, the rally is expected to target voters in Biswanath, Behali and Gohpur constituencies and is being seen as part of the BJP’s campaign push in the state.

On Tuesday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman released the party’s manifesto for the Assam polls which lists 31 promises, including protection of land, heritage and dignity of indigenous people and infrastructure investment of Rs 5 lakh crore.

The manifesto also mentions recovery of encroached land, implementation of the Uniform Civil Code and creation of employment opportunities for youth.

It further says the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950 will be used to speed up detection and pushback of illegal immigrants.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also addressed a public meeting in the state, seeking support for a third consecutive term for the BJP and highlighting infrastructure development works.
