Two KCP Cadres Arrested, Arms and IEDs Recovered in Manipur Operations

Imphal: Security forces arrested two alleged cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Apunba) in separate operations in Imphal East district on March 31, police said.

According to Manipur Police, one Urikhinbam Bijeshranjan Meitei alias Abaicha (24) was arrested from Pungdongbam Makha Leikai under Lamlai police station. In another operation, Thokchom Tompok Singh (27) was apprehended from his residence at Chana Mayai Leikai, also under Lamlai police station.

"On 31.03.2026, security forces arrested an active cadre of KCP (Apunba), one Urikhinbam Bijeshranjan Meitei alias Abaicha (24) of Yourabung Khunou from Pungdongbam Makha Leikai under Lamlai-PS, Imphal East district," Manipur Police wrote on X.

Police said intelligence-based combing, cordon and search operations are being carried out across the state to track down those involved in extortion and other criminal activities.

In a separate operation on the same day, security forces recovered arms, ammunition and explosives from a forest area at Saivom Ridge under Tengnoupal police station in Tengnoupal district.

The recovered items included four 9 mm pistols, four magazines, and 12 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were destroyed on the spot.

Security forces also seized clothing items and uniforms, including combat shirts, pants, jackets, a cap and a combat bag.
