Guwahati: A magazine loaded with three live rounds was recovered from a scooter in Guwahati's Fancy Bazar area during a police search operation, triggering an investigation ahead of Independence Day security arrangements.

The recovery was made by Dispur Police during a search of the scooter. Following the incident, the woman from whose vehicle the magazine was recovered, identified as Grusha Deka, denied any involvement and alleged that she had been framed by her husband.

Deka claimed that her husband had secretly placed the magazine inside her scooter as part of a conspiracy against her. She further alleged that the incident stemmed from an ongoing family dispute and accused her husband of possessing illegal arms and ammunition. She also levelled allegations of harassment and claimed that he had concealed details of his previous marriages.

Dispur Police have registered Case No. 577/26 and launched an investigation into the matter. Officials stated that Deka's allegations have not been verified and remain under investigation.

Dispur Police are examining all aspects of the case, including the circumstances surrounding the recovery of the magazine and live ammunition, while further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
