DIBRUGARH: In a significant move, the entry of heavy vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and other commercial vehicles into Dibrugarh city has been restricted during peak hours.

This significant announcement was made in a notification issued by the District Magistrate of Dibrugarh today.

According to the directive, heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering the city from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and then from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

The decision was taken during a District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting where the increase in traffic congestion and its impact on public movement were highlighted by the officials.

Authorities intend to provide a safer and more organized traffic flow by enforcing these restrictions. This is expected to ease traffic congestion especially during rush hours when roads remain packed.

The district administration has issued a stern warning to violators, vowing to take strict action under relevant traffic and transport regulations.

This decision has been well received by commuters and local businesses who hope for a decrease in roadblocks and smoother vehicular movement.

However, on the other hand, transport operators have requested the concerned authorities to ensure alternative routes for heavy vehicles so as to avoid disruptions in logistics.

The vehicular restrictions happen to be a part of the administration’s broader efforts to improve road safety and enhance urban mobility in Dibrugarh.
