
DIBRUGARH: Three athletes from the Dibrugarh District Sports Association are representing Assam at the 2025 National Games, hosted by Uttarakhand. Agniv Bhaskar Gohain and Saidul Alam Ahmed are competing in Table Tennis, while well-known badminton player Isharani Baruah is participating in Badminton.
The event, which started on January 28, is featuring over 10,000 athletes from 28 states, eight Union Territories, and the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB). The competition is taking place across 11 venues in Uttarakhand and includes 32 sports.
The National Games 2025 continues with its theme "Sankalp Se Shikhar Tak" (From Resolution to Zenith), as athletes from around the country strive to achieve their best and claim top honors.
Meanwhile, cyclist Chayanika Gogoi won a silver medal for Assam in the 10-kilometer Scratch Race at the 38th National Games in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, with a time of 25 minutes 10.02 seconds. This marks her third medal at the National Games, having previously won two in Gujarat.
In lawn bowls, Assam secured six medals as players advanced to the semifinals in six categories in Dehradun. Boxer Gourav Majumder reached the quarterfinals in the 51kg category with a 5-0 victory.
The Assam football team, already in the semifinals, lost 0-3 to Mizoram in their final group match and will face Delhi or Kerala next. In badminton, Isharani Baruah and the doubles pair of Suraj Goala and Ranjan Buragohain were eliminated in the quarterfinals, ending Assam's campaign in the sport.
