GUWAHATI: The AGP, an ally of the BJP, has planned to field candidates in ten of the 40 constituencies in the BTC that is going to poll by the end of this year. The BJP has also said that it is going to field candidates in all the BTC seats.
The AGP has formed a committee with former MLA Bhupen Rai to observe the prospects for the party in the BTC election. The committee is visiting different BTR areas to know the pulses of the party workers. It will file the report to the party high command.
Speaking to the media, Rai said, “The AGP still has an organisational base in the BTR. The party had members in the BTC in the past. Initially, we thought of fighting for ten seats. However, for the final decision, we need to take all issues into consideration.”
