
GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Friday inaugurated the "Hans Renal Care Centre" at Red Cross Hospital in Guwahati. The dialysis unit is established through collaboration between the Hans Foundation and the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Assam State Branch, to provide free-of-cost renal care services to patients. , marking a significant step in accessible healthcare.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor, thanking the Hans Foundation and the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Assam State Branch, for their humanitarian services, said that their benevolence would go a long way in helping the needy to enjoy health and happiness. The Governor stating that "the first wealth is a healthy body" emphasized the importance of health in Indian tradition. He said, "If we are healthy, our society is healthy, and our nation is healthy. Health forms the foundation of all happiness."
The Governor also underlined the relevance of India's ancient philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam-"One Earth, One Family, One Future"-in guiding contemporary health and welfare initiatives. In addition to inaugurating the dialysis centre, the governor also inaugurated the Red Cross Physiotherapy Centre at the hospital. Praising the efforts of The Hans Foundation and the IRCS, he stated, "This noble endeavour will serve as a benchmark for others and provide vital services to those in need."
The event was attended by the chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, Assam State Branch, A.K. Absar Hazarika; the CEO of The Hans Foundation, Sandeep J. Kapur; and a host of other dignitaries, stated a press release.
