GUWAHATI: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) of Kamrup Metropolitan district has issued a notification mandating the implementation of new colour codes for city buses plying in the district.
The decision, taken as part of the second phase of colour coding of city bus routes, aims to improve the visibility and identification of buses on various routes.
According to the notification, the new colour codes will be implemented on buses plying on routes 35, 37, 3, 6, 17, 9, 32/13, 11, 46, and 54. The top and bottom colours for each route have been specified, along with the starting and ending points of each route. The buses plying on route 35 will have aqua as the top colour and blue as the bottom colour, starting from Chandrapur and ending at Dhararapur. Route 37, starting from Basistha Mandir and ending at Dharapur, will have orange as the top colour and blue as the bottom colour; Route 3, starting from Notboma and ending at Dharapur, will have yellow on the top and blue at the bottom; route No. 6 will have grey on the top and maroon at the bottom, starting from Church Field and ending at Kamakhya Mandir. For route no. 17, red is for both top and bottom; for route 9, olive as the top and checkered red and white is for the bottom; for route 32/13, checkered black and white as the top and checkered red and white for the bottom; for route 11, red as the top and blue as the bottom; for route 46, checkered blue and white as the top and blue as the bottom; and for route 54, blue is for both the top and bottom. The RTA has directed the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) and other bus owners to complete the colour coding of their buses by December 15, 2024. The procedures for the implementation of colour codes will remain the same as in the first phase, with the addition of rectangular stickers on buses for better visibility.
