Assam: SIRD Bags 3rd Prize in Panchayat Kshamata Nirman Sarvottam Sansthan Puraskar

GUWAHATI: Assam’s State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development (SIPRD) has been selected for the third prize in the “Panchayat Kshamata Nirman Sarvottam Sansthan Puraskar” category under the National Panchayat Awards 2025. The institute has earned this prestigious national award in recognition of being one of the best-performing institutions in strengthening Panchayati Raj capacity building.

Notably, established in 1987, the institute has garnered acclaim for its effective measures in reinforcing grassroots Panchayati Raj institutions across the state through training and innovative strategies. With 12 extended training centers and 11 District Panchayat Resource Centers under its umbrella, the institute has been delivering high-quality services consistently in capacity-building initiatives. To date, the institute has conducted 12,817 training programmes and trained a total of 3,57,998 participants across various fields. Additionally, through the “Rupantar Project,” the institute has significantly contributed to rural transformation by offering impactful training on entrepreneurship, digital and computer literacy, among others. These initiatives have led to the institute being chosen for this prestigious award, bringing honor to the state of Assam.

It is worth mentioning that the Local Self Government Institute of Kerala has been selected for the first prize, and the State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj of Odisha for the second prize in this category. The awards will be presented by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the National Panchayati Raj Day celebration to be held on April 24. The Director of SIPRD Assam, and Special Secretary to the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Munindra Nath Sharma, will receive the award on behalf of Assam.

Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass has extended heartfelt congratulations to all officials and staff of the State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development for achieving this award. He stated that the award is recognition of the dedicated and exemplary service of the entire team of the institute.
