GUWAHATI: An unidentified body was discovered near Lokhra Road in Guwahati on Wednesday, prompting an immediate police inquiry. The deceased is suspected to have been murdered and dumped at the location by unidentified assailants. Police have confirmed the deceased's gender as male. However, details regarding the likely cause of death are yet to be determined.
“We are working to identify the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding this incident. We urge anyone with information to come forward and assist with our investigation,” police said.
Police have cordoned off the area and are conducting a thorough examination of the scene. Due to the lack of identification documents, the body remains unidentified.
The body has been sent to the forensic medicine department of Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination. The discovery of the body has sparked serious concerns among the residents in the area. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that might aid in the identification of the body.
Meanwhile, an unidentified body of a man was discovered last year in November beneath the Khanapara flyover, sending shockwaves through the area. The Basista police arrived promptly at the scene after being informed by locals and recovered the body for further investigation.
While the deceased man's identity remains unknown at the time of reporting, initial assessments by officials suggest a possible drug overdose as the cause of death.
