Guwahati: In a meaningful stride toward amplifying women’s voices and promoting self-reliance through knowledge, the All Women’s Book Club released a new book titled “Skill Development and Women Empowerment”, authored by club member Pallabi Neog Bora, at a special event held at the Guwahati Press Club.
The release programme brought together women achievers, literary enthusiasts, and key stakeholders from the development sector. In her welcome address, Club President Shrimati Mita Nath Bora described the book as more than just a literary work. “It is a reflection of our shared vision—one where every woman has the opportunity and confidence to shape her own destiny,” she said, underlining the club’s mission of fostering empowerment through literature, knowledge sharing, and collective action. The event was graced by Shrimati Manjurani Gogoi Talukdar, Joint Director at the Office of the Commissioner of Industries and Commerce, as chief guest. She commended the Book Club’s initiative in creating a nurturing space for women’s literary expression, emphasizing its relevance in today’s socio-economic context.
Sahitya Akademi Award-winning author Jayanta Madhab Bora, attending as the guest of honour, highlighted the rising contributions of Assamese women to India’s literary landscape. “The voices of women are reshaping contemporary literature, and this book is a timely contribution,” he noted. Snigdha Mitherpangsa, ACS, Assistant Mission Director, ASDM, also addressed the gathering, discussing the various state-led initiatives in skill development and women entrepreneurship, and applauded the author for aligning her work with broader developmental goals.
