SIVASAGAR: In a significant step towards women empowerment, Sivasagar-based voluntary organization Naari Unnati organized a large-scale awareness programme at the Bhatiapar auditorium in Sivasagar recently. As part of the initiative, more than 250 women were provided with health and hygiene kits, saplings and bags. In addition, dustbins were distributed to various social institutions to promote cleanliness and sanitation.
The event was organized in collaboration with ONGC's CSR wing, under the banner of Naari Unnati, a women-centric NGO. The awareness meet was chaired by the organization's President Amina Begum, with active coordination from activist Shehnaz Begum and youth social worker Abhinab Dutta.
Several dignitaries spoke at the event, including ONGC official Poonam Dutta, senior journalist Anamuddin Ahmed, social worker Saroj Kumar Baruah, Sivasagar Zilla Xahitya Xabha Secretary Manoj Kumar Gogoi and Asomiya Yuva Mancha's Sivasagar district committee Secretary Bishnu Saikia, among others like Anup Chetia and Barnali Gogoi. They lauded Naari Unnati's efforts and shared valuable insights and suggestions for women's development.
Special invitees Rinkuraj Sharma and Smritirekha Sharma delivered informative speeches addressing women's monthly health issues and provided useful guidance for their resolution, greatly benefiting the attendees.
