
Guwahati: As per direction from Governor of Assam and as per initiative of Vice-Chancellor, Gauhati University, an awareness campaign on Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was held at Phanidhar Datta Seminar Hall, Gauhati University. Inaugurating the programme Prof. Utpal Sarma, Registrar, GU said that elimination of Tuberculosis (TB) is must and urged all the participants to create awareness for its complete eradication from India. Dr. Ranjan Kr. Kakati, Director, Students' Welfare, GU coordinated the progamme & Dr. Kakati welcomed all the participants and said that complete annihilation of TB is necessary to achieve complete immunity for the society from this dreaded disease and to accelerate India's progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) related to TB, specifically ending TB by 2025. Dr. Mridul Bharati Nath, District TB Officer, Kamrup Metro and K. Maipak Singha, State Programme Officer -PMTBMBA-Nikshay Mitra, State TB Cell, Assam delivered talk about PM TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The Resource persons focused on generating awareness about Ni-kshay Poshan Abhiyaan and also encouraged the participants to become Ni-Kshay Mitra, stated a press release.
