GUWAHATI: In a major breakthrough, the Garchuk police have apprehended two members of the banned Kanglaipak Communist Party (KCP), a Maoist separatist militant group from Manipur. The duo, identified as Meisnam Bungochouba Singh and Tesma Ibomcha Singh, were nabbed from the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Guwahati while they were attempting to leave the state.

According to the police, the operation was part of an intensive three-day crackdown on KCP militants. The apprehended individuals are wanted in Manipur for multiple charges, including arms supply, extortion, murder, and kidnapping. They will be handed over to the Manipur police for further investigation.

The KCP is a banned militant outfit that has been involved in various extremist activities in Manipur. The group’s ideology is based on Maoist separatism, and it has been responsible for numerous violent incidents in the region.
