Guwahati: PHE executive engineer booked in Rs 35-lakh toilet scam

Guwahati: The Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (CM’s SVC) has registered a case against former Public Health Engineering (PHE) executive engineer of Nalbari, Avatar Singh, in connection with alleged financial irregularities amounting to Rs 35 lakh.

The case (No. 14/2025) was filed by CM’s SVC. According to sources, the embezzlement of funds took place under the guise of constructing toilet infrastructure and through the use of a fake non-governmental organization (NGO). The CM’s SVC has initiated an investigation into the case after the order of Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
