Guwahati: Guwahati Police have apprehended multiple individuals involved in bike lifting and theft cases across the city, recovering stolen vehicles and equipment from them.
In the first incident, a team from Chandmari Police Station busted a four-member bike lifting gang. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mitu Roy alias Dhan (19) of Ganesh Nagar, Rishikesh Das (27) and Bhargab Das (18), both residents of Kharguli, and Amir Hussain (24) of Jyotinagar.
Acting on specific inputs, police recovered a stolen scooty (AS01DG6265), reported missing from Bamunimaidam, from the residence of one of the accused in Kharguli. Legal proceedings have been initiated.
In a separate operation, a team from Basistha Police Station intercepted two individuals at a checkpoint in Kerakuchi. The accused, Nayan Ali (38) of Hajo and Md Akbar Ali (30) of Barpeta, were caught in possession of stolen electric wires. A Pulsar bike (AS15AA4540), reportedly used in the crime, was also seized. Both have been taken into custody, and legal action is underway.
Meanwhile, in a third incident, a notorious bike lifter identified as Abu Bokkar Siddique (24) of South Salmara was apprehended by another team from Basistha police station at Beharbari. A master key used in bike thefts was recovered from his possession. Further investigation is ongoing, and legal action has been initiated.
