GUWAHATI: In a significant operation, two 16-year-old girls were rescued by the Paltan Bazar police from a guest house in Bora Service, Guwahati, where they were allegedly confined by two young men. Since Sunday afternoon, the tenth-grade students were reported missing and later found locked in a hotel room, raising suspicions of kidnapping.
The authorities raided the guest house late Sunday, acting on a complaint filed by the girls’ families at Paltan Bazar police station. As police moved in, the suspected kidnappers fled the scene, evading immediate capture. Additionally, the families have also raised concerns about the possible involvement of the guest house manager in the incident.
In another similar incident, a schoolgirl from Nicholes Higher Secondary School, who was kidnapped from the Paltan Bazar area in Guwahati, was safely rescued by the police earlier in February.
She was reportedly tricked by a group of youths and then taken away by force. Sources say that one of the kidnappers persuaded the girl to leave her home in Manipuri Basti. She was then reportedly drugged and taken away.
The kidnappers transported her to Borpathar in Assam's Golaghat district. After a thorough search, the Paltan Bazar Police found her location and rescued her safely.
