Guwahati: Woman Pickpocket Caught Red-Handed On City Bus In Chandmari

GUWAHATI: The Chandmari police have arrested a notorious women accused of pickpocketing on city buses in Guwahati. The woman, who has been causing distress to commuters on public transport, was finally caught red-handed while trying to steal from passengers on a Green City bus.

The apprehended culprit has been identified as Misbhan Begum who was nabbed by the law enforcement following a swift response.

Her nefarious activities were exposed when her suspicious behavior caught the attention of vigilant bus staff and passengers who immediately notified the police.

The Chandmari police responded prompting by rushing to the scene, following which, Begum was taken into custody.

As per preliminary findings, Begum committed multiple acts of pickpocketing across public transport, with female passengers being her primary target.

Her arrest comes as a major sigh of relief for daily commuters who were terrified by her attempts to rob valuable items. Her apprehension is also seen as a major breakthrough in preventing thefts.

Authorities have urged the public to stay cautious while using public transport and immediately report any suspicious activities.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, the Assam Police busted a major interstate vehicle theft racket, arresting 11 individuals. The gang from Manipur was notorious for swiftly stealing and smuggling high-end motorcycles and cars, with reports stating they could steal a bike in just 45 seconds.

The police recovered 13 stolen motorcycles, including 12 Royal Enfield bikes, and three stolen cars-two Mahindra Thar SUVs and a Mahindra Scorpio. The investigation showed that the gang used commercial buses to take the stolen bikes to Manipur, proving how well-planned their operations were.
