Guwhati: In a significant boost to skill-based employment initiatives in Assam, Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment and Information & Public Relations, Pijush Hazarika, on Friday distributed job offer letters to 233 trainees of the North-East Skill Development Centre at a ceremony held in Guwahati. These individuals were trained under the Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM), with 114 of them belonging to Scheduled Caste communities who received free training facilitated by the Directorate for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes.

The trainees, who underwent training in various trades over the past year, have now secured employment offers from both domestic and international organizations. Notably, 54 candidates have been selected for job placements abroad, while the rest have received offers from reputed companies within India.

Congratulating the newly-employed youth, Minister Hazarika urged them to make the most of these opportunities and build successful careers. He noted that Indians working abroad significantly contribute to the country’s economic development and emphasized the growing relevance of skill-based education in today’s global job market — a goal championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Looking ahead, the Minister also announced that the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment has planned to train 240 more Scheduled Caste students in the upcoming 2025–26 session.
