GUWAHATI: In the run-up to the Sub-national Immunization Day on December 8, the Kamrup (M) District Task Force emphasized the importance of ensuring that all children under the age of five receive the polio vaccine. District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan chaired a meeting in this regard today.
The district health department has made elaborate arrangements to make the immunization drive a success, with 971 polio booths set up across the district. A total of 210,453 children will be administered the polio vaccine. To ensure that no child is left out, the health department has also made arrangements for 3,560 booth workers and 194 supervisors to oversee the immunization drive.
In addition, the district administration has appealed to the public for their cooperation and support in making Assam a polio-free state. The health department will also conduct house-to-house visits on December 9, 10, and 11 to administer the polio vaccine to any children who may have missed out on the immunization drive.
