GUWAHATI: Singer Rishi Baruah was violently attacked by a group of miscreants at Commerce Point in Guwahati on 14th March during Holi celebrations.

As per reports, Rishi Baruah was heading home after having a practice session for the upcoming Assam Celebrity Cricket League (ACCL) when he was suddenly attacked by a gang without any clear reason. He later filed a police complaint, urging action against the attackers. The police have since launched an investigation.

Rishi told the media, "As we were returning from the ACCL, a group of six to seven men, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, approached us and started speaking disrespectfully about my mother. They were carrying rods and seemed ready to attack us. I was injured as they hit my leg, hurt my neck, and I am also bleeding from my ears. I often visit Commerce with my friends to work in the studio, but the behavior of these young men, acting like thugs and carrying weapons, especially during Holi, is completely unacceptable."

Meanwhile, earlier last month, a scuffle broke out during the election for the National Students’ Union of India’s (NSUI) president post at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati on Monday night, leaving presidential candidate Jinsh Bora injured. Bora was allegedly assaulted by Mithu Ahmed and two others and was admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment.
