SHILLONG: The Executive Engineer (PRE), GSWS Division No-II, Mawphlang has informed the general public that after commissioning of newly laid 1000 mm dia Gravity Main Line with effect from 2nd September 2021 till date, the water quality is still turbid which requires to revert the supply from the existing 750 mm dia Gravity Main Line.

While releasing the water on the evening of 13th September 2021 through the 750 mm dia mainline, the bursting of the pipeline occurred at Pomlum Village, Upper Shillong.

Due to the breakdown of the 750 mm dia pipeline, there will be no water supply till the evening of 16th September 2021.

The areas which will be affected during the above period are Shillong Municipal Board areas, Shillong Cantonment Board areas, Nongthymmai and Mawlai.

Every effort is being made to complete the repair works for the restoration of the normal water supply by the evening of 161 September 2021.

On the other hand, Employees of the North East Electrical Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) have expressed their deep concern over a purported move to shift the NEEPCO office from Shillong to Guwahati.

NEEPCO, which was formed in April, 1976, has been functioning from the Meghalaya capital since its inception.

As per reports, talks of the NEEPCO office being shifted from Shillong to Guwahati have been making the rounds and this has resulted in confusion and anxiety among its employees. They have appealed to the Meghalaya government to take necessary steps so that the office is not shifted.
