GMC fixes vehicle parking rates for Guwahati

Guwahati: Much to the relief of vehicle of the city, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has issued a fixed parking rate for GMC parkings across Guwahati.

The rate chart issued specifies maximum parking rates for two-wheelers to big trucks. Captioning their tweet as "Guwahatians, we heard you, and are here to help," GMC posted their control room numbers for anyone to raise a complaint if they are overcharged.

The parking rate for two-wheelers has been fixed at Rs 5 for two hours. After the two hours, Rs 5 will be charged for every subsequent hour. For three and four-wheelers, and trucks, the rule will be the same however, the amount changes to Rs 10 and Rs 20, respectively.

The GMC tweeted, "Caption: Guwahatians, we heard you, and are here to help. Beware of unscrupulous agents at GMC parking spots- know your rates and be an aware citizen. Please report your complaint to our control room at 8811007000, 7399003001, 7399003002, 7399003003, 739900300."

Since the last few weeks, GMC has been trying to be more citizen-friendly, and be available for the city dwellers. In an effort to provide a smooth city life experience, the corporation also came up with new web-based software. The web-based software is developed by GMC to make the work of the offices in the city transparent and effortless.

The three web-based softwares are:

1. A Vehicle Tracking System, which will help GMC to manage the fleet of vehicles through the various kinds of monitoring, which includes Optimal Route monitoring, Fuel Consumption monitoring, etc.

2. A File Tracking System, which will help in monitoring the movement of the file or DAK among the different offices of GMC.

3. A software to collect Public Feedback regarding Garbage Collection of NGOs, which will help in smooth monitoring of garbage collection as well as will help the city dwellers to raise their various concerns regarding garbage collection directly to GMC.
