One dies in Silpukhuri road accident

GUWAHATI: A person identified as Rajan Baishya died in a road mishap at Silpukhuri at around 11:10 on Friday night. The person is a pharmacist by profession and hails from Tamulpur in Baksa District.

Police sources informed that Baishya was riding his scooter towards the Chandmari side when a truck hit the scooter near the Silpukhuri Police point. The truck was moving from the side of Nabagraha. The truck came to a stop as it ran over the two-wheeler. In the impact, Baishya fell down a few yards away from the accident site.

On being alerted, Chandmari Police reached the spot. But before the police reached the spot, the truck driver fled from the location. Subsequently, the Police took the critically injured Baishya to the GMCH, where he was declared dead.
