Raijor Dal Demands Permanent Solution to Border Disputes

GUWAHATI: Condemning the attack on Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi, the Raijor Dal has demanded a permanent solution to Assam's border disputes with its neighbouring States. The Mariani MLA was shot at Neu Sonowal area by miscreants from Nagaland at the Assam-Nagaland border at Balijan on Thursday.

The party also extended its support to the hunger strike being staged by the MLA. It stated that the main reason for the attack is the Assam-Nagaland border dispute.

In a statement, Raijor Dal working presidents Bhasco D Saikia, Jitul Deka and Pabindra Chetia Phukan demanded the State government to make the border areas free from encroachment.

"The BJP and its alliance parties are in power in almost all the States of the northeast. It is concerning that the border problems have not been solved," said the Raijor Dal.
