

Guwahati: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah today offered prayers at famous Somnath temple in Gujarat along with his family members ahead of the seventh and last phase of general elections to be held on tomorrow.
Amit Shah, who is on a Gujarat visit was accompanied by his wife, a son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.
The entire family of Shah performed the rituals at the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Gir-Somnath district.
Shah will also spend a day with his family members at their residence in Ahmedabad which is a part of his Gujarat visit before returning to Delhi on Sunday, as informed by party spokesperson Prashant Vala.
The BJP President is also a trustee of the Shree Somnath Trust that manages affairs of the temple.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also arrived at Uttarakhand today on a two-day official visit during and visited the shrines of Kedarnath and Badrinath. The Prime Minister’s visit to the temples comes ahead of the last and seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections which will be held on May 19.
PM Narendra Modi has visited the Kedarnath temple today while he will visit the Badrinath temple on tomorrow morning before returning to Delhi in the afternoon.
In the last phase of elections, 59 parliamentary constituencies including Varanasi will go to polls tomorrow and the results will be declared on May 23.
Based on the grounds of an official visit, the Election Commission is learnt to have given permission for PM’s visit to Uttarakhand but the poll body has reminded the Prime Minister’s office that the Model Code of Conduct is still in force and that he should not violate the MCC.
