Dibrugarh's Barsha Konwar Crowned ‘Assam Junior Strong Woman’ After Winning Gold In Powerlifting

GUWAHATI: In a significant achievement, Dibrugarh’s Barsha Konwar has secured the gold medal in the 47kg category. Her exceptional performance also earned her the title of “Assam Junior Strong Woman 2024-25” at the 13th All Assam Inter District Sub-Junior and Junior Classic Powerlifting Championship 2024–25.

The Assam Powerlifting Association organized the event on 3rd and 4th April 2025 at the Senior Railway Institute, Maligaon, Guwahati. Along with bringing pride to Dibrugarh in this state-level competition, Ankita’s performance also earned her the top position.

Meanwhile, Rige Kaye, a powerlifter from Arunachal Pradesh, won a gold medal in the 67.5 kg senior men’s category at the World Powerlifting Championship in Cairo, Egypt. He lifted a total of 500 kg in raw powerlifting.

Kaye, originally from Telam village in Lower Siang district, had previously won a gold medal in the 67.5 kg category at the National Deadlift Championship organized by the World Powerlifting Congress in Hyderabad, Telangana, in 2024. Kaye has won many gold and silver medals in powerlifting at different district, state, and national competitions. He is also a certified international personal trainer.
