MUMBAI: In order to prevent any disruptions in public order, Mumbai Police has declared a curfew in the city until January 2 and outlawed gatherings of five or more individuals.

Vishal Thakur, the deputy commissioner of the mission division of the Mumbai Police, stated in a news statement that all gatherings, processions, protests, loudspeaker use, etc. will be prohibited in the city through January 2.

The list of prohibited activities during Mumbai's Curfew-

•Processions of many kinds, such as weddings, funerals, gatherings at cemeteries, and official gatherings of businesses, organizations, cooperative societies, and other associations.

•groups of at least 5 persons that conduct official or semi-official duties around government buildings, courts, and local organizations.

•Weapons of this nature, including swords and firearms, are prohibited. These directives will be in force from December 4 through January 2.

•Large gatherings for colleges, universities, and other institutions for general business or educational purposes.

•Playing loudspeakers, instruments, bands, and crackers while bursting them is highly prohibited.

In addition to the aforementioned activities, meetings for business, soliciting in stores and other businesses, as well as demonstrations of other gatherings and processions, have also been banned.

The Mumbai Police further stated that anyone found breaking the rules would be subject to harsh punishment.

List of activities permitted under the curfew in Mumbai:

- Laws and local self-government organizations are allowed to perform quasi-governmental or governmental duties at the time of curfew.

- Official gatherings of businesses, clubs, cooperative societies, and other organizations are allowed.

- Gatherings for instructional purposes in or near schools, universities, and other educational institutions are also allowed according to the sources.
