Army Analyses Lukewarm Response To Recruitment

Shillong: In spite of the fact that there are scores of vacancy available in the armed forces for the youths of Meghalaya, the response to the recruitment have not been impressive, divulged the top brass of the Army. They have carefully analyzed the reasons and found out four attributes. A presentation made recently which The Sentinel was a witness related to the reluctance of the youths to leave the State as a primary factor. The others are lack of motivation, the language barrier that restricted their communication besides their inability to meet the laid down standards.

The story about the lacklustre participation of the youths from the State in the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) is no different while they swamp any recruitment rally conducted by the State police. The Army officer who made the presentation recently said, “It bemuses us in the recruitment unit and that prompted us to analyse and take notice.”

The Army officers did not differ with the views that the youths of the State needs the right motivation and the National Cadet Corp (NCC) should be the right platform to instill the confidence of the youths to joined the armed forces. Interestingly, at the school level, there are scores of youths who are part of the NCC. However, some of them abandon it at the senior secondary level to pursue higher studies.
