SHILLONG: The Bharatya Janata party (BJP) has invited application for aspiring candidates to contest the upcoming MDC polls for both Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) and the list of candidates will be announced on the second week of January 2019.

The Meghalaya state president of BJP Shibun Lyngdoh informed this scribe that the party has invited application for aspiring candidates to contest the MDC polls for both the KHADC and JHADC scheduled for next year. He is also of the opinion that the party will not have any pre poll alliance with any other political party in the state but will contest the election alone.

“We are presently not discussing about which constituency to set up candidates as it depends on the number of application received by the party we might set up candidates in the entire MDC constituency or in just a few constituency and this will be decided later,” he said. He also said that there is a need to further strengthen the party in the state of Meghalaya and the fielding of candidates of BJP is one move in that direction.
