Inspector General BSF reviews border fencing in Shillong

Shillong: In view of the prevailing security scenario in Meghalaya, Shri L Mohanti, Inspector General, Meghalaya Frontier carried out extensive visit of border accompanied with DIG, Sector HQ Tura. The Inspector General BSF also reviewed the status of Border Fencing, Floodlight and Border Roads. Inspector General, visited the War Memorial Kilapara which is known as a place of sacrifice to pay homage and remember the BSF heroes of 1971 Indo-Pak War on 06th Dec 2018.

The names 09 BSF martyrs who laid their lives are engraved in golden letters on the War Memorial, their supreme sacrifice denied the strategic control over the Dalu-Tura road during the Liberation War of Bangladesh. Paying gratitude to the gallant BSF heroes he laid wreath at the memorial.

Inspector General BSF interacted with the troops and was very appreciative of their hard work in the tough and treacherous terrain defying the odd weather conditions. During the visit he also met officials of Border Guard Bangladesh and handed over sweets for the BGB troops and complimented them for the bonhomie and the cordial relations being maintained by the BGB and BSF.
